Operation: WATERMELON
Russellville, AL – August 18, 2007: On Saturday, an elite detail from the Alabama Garrison was deployed to the city of Russellville, AL as part of a well orchestrated recruitment drive.
Russellville is a remote city in the far reaches of the Alabama Garrison with no active 501st Legion members in the population. Because of this, the goal of the day was strictly to attract new members (under the guise of “vendors”) at the 26th Annual Franklin County Watermelon Festival. The citizens had no idea that an Imperial invasion was underway in their fair city until it was too late!
Many noted interest in signing-up with the 501st, and due to our interaction with the crowds, we now have 4 possible new recruits from this area!
Due to the large number of people at the festival (approximately 30,000), we did not feel comfortable leaving the table unattended with Imperial literature and helmets on it in order to troop. The main focus of our presence at this event was to recruit new members in this untapped part of the state. As such, we were very successful in our efforts.
